When my friend, musician
Rachel Levitin, asked me to style her for an upcoming show I was flattered and very excited! She said her usual wardrobe for a performance was just jeans and simple top so she wanted something a little more exciting and stylish. Right away I thought of how I might dress if I had any musical talent whatsoever and was a badass singer-songwriter. I love the juxtaposition of a feminine dress with the hard edge of a biker jacket. Rachel was down with that idea, so we picked a floral and lace dress (what's more feminine than flowers and lace?) paired with a white biker jacket. I think it turned out quite well, and most importantly, Rachel was happy with the look!
I also recently had the pleasure of seeing Rachel perform in "The 9 Songwriter Series," a touring live music event based in DC where nine artists get together and combine their talents to put on a show featuring a variety of musical styles.
If you'd like to catch Rachel (which I suggest you do!) at the next DC9 show, here are the deets:
Place: Iota Club & Cafe in Arlington, Va. (Clarendon Orange Line Station)
Date: Tuesday June 19
Time: 7:30 p.m. doors // 8:00 p.m. show time
Price: $10 to see 9 performers (see http://www.iotaclubandcafe.com/ for the full list of performers)
If it's anything like the one I attended, it will be a great show!
